WORKSHOP: Creating Easy Read Materials

You’re invited to join us for a free training workshop: For people working in state and local government or communications who want to improve inclusion and accessibility of their information.

Come and learn how to use simple language, images and formatting to make information easier to understand for many in the community.

This Easy Read training includes practical information to get you started on developing your own Easy Read skills!

~ in-person event only ~

Many Australians (44%) have difficulty accessing and navigating websites. This includes people with disability, people from CALD backgrounds, people with poor literacy and older Australians. For these people, it can be hard to understand and access information — which can cause stress and uncertainty.

A person with intellectual disability from DDWA’s Advisory Council will talk about their experience in accessing websites and reviewing Easy Read documents for a range of services.

We will discuss:

  • Who needs accessible communications?
  • What’s the difference between Easy Read and Plain English?
  • Using simple language and formatting
  • Accessing images
  • Creating your own Easy Read resource
  • Testing Easy Read resources
  • Making your website more accessible
  • You’ll take away a guide to creating your own Easy Read resources.

Morning tea provided.
