Workshop: An Introduction to Making Easy Read Documents

Once again – back by popular demand… 18th October 2024 (9:30 am – 12 noon) – If you’ve ever struggled to understand complex information, you know the frustration it brings. Now imagine facing that challenge every day due to intellectual disabilities, low literacy, or language barriers.

Making information accessible is important for everyone, and that’s what the Introduction to Making Easy Read Documents Workshop is all about.

Our next workshop is Friday 18th October 2024. This offers a unique opportunity for various professionals, including disability access and inclusion officers, communication experts, and allied health staff, to learn about making Easy Read (and therefore, easy-to-understand) materials.

Why Easy Read?

Easy Read documents simplify language, incorporate images, and organise content to help people understand the content. Easy Reads are designed for people with intellectual disability, but are also useful for people with poor literacy, English as a second language, or those with time constraints. By attending this workshop, participants gain invaluable skills to ensure their organisation’s messages reach a broader audience.

Feedback Speaks Volumes

Previous attendees have given positive reviews on the workshop’s effectiveness, saying that both the presentation and the practical exercises are highly beneficial. One participant expressed being keen for future updates and workshops, highlighting the clear value they found in the content. Others commented about the resources provided, particularly the Easy Read workbook, which breaks down the document creation process into manageable steps.

“…good, easy content. activities helped show how to put it in practice.”

“Fantastic resources with the workbook – a template that breaks down how to make Easy Reads step-by-step. And the workbook is in Easy Read!”

“Top quality training! Way better than the other training I’ve done (and way cheaper!).”

Why Attend?
