Have Your Say! Review of the School Education Act 1999

The consultation phase for the Review of the School Education Act 1999 has officially begun!

Why?

To identify opportunities to strengthen access and inclusion for students with disability.

This is for everyone to comment on because your opinion matters about what the law says for now and the future in respect to Education for our children.

We urge parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters to think about being involved in the review.

It may seem that the Education Act only applies for parents of kids currently in the State (public) school system. In fact, the Education Act applies to all kids in the State and to kids still yet to be born, because laws can be around for a long time before they are reviewed.

Additionally, your child/ren may go to a non-State school (e.g. Catholic, Independent, Care school, or other religious school system). The law still applies to them. Your child may choose to leave a private school and go to a State school or the other way around, and the law applies the same across all systems.

Home schooled children or children disengaged from schooling may return to classroom education so they also need to be considered in our laws. If school has not worked for you or your child, it matters to say what could have made the difference.
