Office of the Public Advocate (OPA): We commend your Easy Read efforts.
We commend the Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) in their efforts to make their service more accessible to people with intellectual disability and other cognitive impairments with Easy Reads.
OPA is the first WA government agency to have clear signage to ‘Easy Read Factsheets’ on their homepage, which then links users straight to Easy Read information.
With this, we feel we finally made our mark with our Easy Reads initiative.
Since early 2023, we have conducted workshops for over 500 professionals, including government representatives, public service staff, teachers, and disability service providers, providing an introduction to creating Easy Read documents. As a result, we now see government departments and organisations placing Easy Reads on their home page (website).
In DDWA’s Easy Read training workshops, we now showcase the efforts of OPA and encourage other agencies to follow their lead. Below are links to OPA’s Fact Sheets.
We continue our commitment to making documents and online materials accessible and suitable for all people.
