How do I find a behaviour support practitioner?

Support Suggestions

Here are a few suggestions about how you can find a behaviour support practitioner that is right for you and your family.

  • You can ask other parents for suggestions from their own experiences with behaviour support providers.
  • You could consider joining one or both of DDWA’s Facebook groups. DDWA operate a peer support program called Side by Side which you may like to join their private Facebook group and ask other families about their experiences and suggestions. www.facebook.com/groups/378334628980426
  • DDWA have started a new Facebook group for family members AND professionals/ supporters of people with challenging behaviours – practitioners, support staff, therapists, coordinators, teachers etc. www.facebook.com/groups/620447002677053
  • You may find that your therapy team can help with recommendations, and they may also be a behaviour support provider themselves.
  • There may be waitlists. We recommend you ask any providers about the availability of their practitioners.
  • If you have a support coordinator they may  be able to assist you to find a behaviour support provider.
