What We Do

DDWA offers:

  • Resources – A range of online and hard copy resources, books and videos
  • Information – An independent point of contact for information about the disability sector in WA
  • Skills and Education – a wide range of training opportunities including workshops, discussion groups and other forums for people with disability, family, carers and community members
  • Advocacy, service negotiation and one to one support is available – contact us if you would like to connect with an advocate
  • Newsletters, bulletins and flyers about current disability issues and events
  • Discounted rates for members to attend events and priority registration for popular sessions
  • The opportunity to raise concerns, express your views or provide feedback on a range of issues we are actively involved in at State and national levels
  • The opportunity to connect with a wide network of people including other families support groups, support staff, therapists and other professionals, educators, academics and researchers
  • Support and practical assistance to support groups – we can help with administration, marketing and other support for a group’s events and activities
  • Side by Side – a program providing support for families who have a son or daughter with behaviour which can be seen as challenging
  • Support for individuals with complex needs – DDWA provides support with planning and coordination of supports and services

  • Access to specialist communications support for people with complex communication needs
